Safe Ground Operations for
Conventional Gear (Tail Wheel) Aircraft
All pilots feel a need to be vigilant
regarding safety issues. They carefully inspect their aircraft during
pre-flight, run up the engine(s), check the weather. They ask themselves,
“Am I physically and mentally ready to fly today?” Simply stated,
pilots make many critical, safety-based decisions before the wheels start
to roll. Learn more
Departure Briefing
All pilots departing on Runway 18/36 before the daily air show should
have a departure briefing, available on ATIS (128.75), in the EAA
AirVenture NOTAM, or in the Departure Briefing shack located east
of the control tower starting at 7 a.m., at the tent in South Aircraft
Parking (Row 113), or from the roving briefer circulation through the
South aircraft parking in a vehicle with a Departure Briefing sign.

Graphic TFR Notams
When flying in the U.S. EAA strongly encourages you to check Notams for
current temporary flight restrictions (TFR's) that may affect your route
of flight. There are two methods available to do this:
- EAA
Flight Planner - plots your desired route of flight and shows
any TFR's that may affect the flight. The TFR display on this site
allows you to show the TFR on many different types of aviation maps,
including a VFR section.
- FAA
Graphic NOTAM web page - using the links for each posted TFR,
this site allows you to read the exact NOTAM and also provides a
link to a graphic display of the TFR area. The graphic display does
not allow you the option to select different types of aviation maps
to display the TFR on.
