Item #16
World War II Homefront Memorabilia

A nice collection of World War II memories can be yours. The large aviation-themed valentine card was sent by a private in Hawaii to his sister in Minnesota. Its original envelope is included and shows that it arrived with postage due. She probably didn't think twice about paying the six cents to get this piece of mail.

Two vintage napkins have aged well and sport the well known "Keep 'em Flying!" logo and a winged propeller Army Air Forces logo.

A window card from the Avondale, Illinois Civilian Defense Council carries the familiar "Remember Pearl Harbor!" among its many patriotic images. Information on the back indicates it was used at 2933 Milwaukee Avenue.

Patriotic jewelry was common on the homefront. This example pairs a gold radial-engined fighter pin with a V for Victory pin with the letter and its Morse Code on a red, white & blue background.
