On-Site Camping
One of the most popular ways to experience EAA AirVenture is to camp, whether in Camp Scholler or under the wing of your own airplane. You’ll be located right on the AirVenture grounds and be a part of the unique community of aviation enthusiasts.
2010 camping rates are $22 per night with a three-day minimum, and at least one person in your party must be an EAA member. You can Join Now or join right on site if you like.
Camp Scholler
Camp Scholler is located adjacent to the EAA Convention grounds. Individual campsites are available for tents and vehicles of all sizes (including large RVs).
Amenities include: Two general stores, convenient access to the Fly-In Theater and Theater in the Woods evening entertainment, free public Wi-Fi, an internet café, food services, shower facilities, RV pumping station and portable pumping services.
Designated camping areas are also available for the handicapped, 24-hour generator use, and those who bring pets (bringing pets is generally discouraged, however).
Electric and water hookups are not available.
No pre-registration is needed for Camp Scholler — sites are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Don’t worry - there are always plenty of sites available!

Aircraft Camping
Flying in to Oshkosh and pitching a tent under the wing of your aircraft is perhaps the ultimate way to experience AirVenture. Shower facilities, free public Wi-Fi, on-site transportation, and access to food and supplies are available. Aircraft camping areas on the EAA AirVenture grounds are segmented into two categories:
- General aircraft camping area (commonly known as the “North 40”)
- Showplane camping (Vintage, Homebuilt, Warbird, Ultralight, Rotorcraft and Seaplane categories): (Showplane camping guidelines)
Click here for airplane camping guidelines. All aircraft must be tied-down. No pre-registration is necessary and airplane campsites are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
Private Housing
One of AirVenture’s best-kept secrets is that hundreds of beautifully kept private homes are available to rent, all within 10 miles of the EAA Convention site. Starting March 1,
2010, you can call the Oshkosh Convention and Visitors Bureau's housing hotline at 920-235-3007 to reserve an entire house or a single room. The Oshkosh CVB website contains detailed listings and photographs of all available homes.
College Dormitories
More than 3,000 dormitory rooms are available within 25 miles of Oshkosh, some at less than $50 per night. This convenient and economical housing option provides a variety of amenities are provided by each school. Public transportation to and from EAA AirVenture Oshkosh is often provided. Hotels & Motels
There are thousands of hotel and motel rooms within an hour's drive of Oshkosh. For hotels closest to the event, especially in Oshkosh, you should anticipate premium rates, as well as minimum reservation and pre-payment requirements. Most hotels in Oshkosh are booked year to year by EAA AirVenture attendees, but there are many others to choose from.
